What search
reads.
Behind every page is a layer written for machines: the title and description a search result shows, and structured data that states what this organization is, what its programs are and when its events happen. This page fetches each page of the site and reads that layer, the way a search engine does.
Facts a search engine can check, read from 11 pages of this site when you opened this one.
How to read it
The title
The headline of a search result. Past about 60 characters it may be cut short.
The description
The lines under the headline. Without one, the search engine picks words from the page itself.
Structured data
Facts in a fixed format a machine can check against the page: that this is a 501(c)(3), each program’s ages, each event’s date.

Why this site never
shows up in search
Every page tells search engines not to list it, so Harborlight never appears in real results and nobody mistakes it for a real charity. Google’s test still reads a page when you send it there: it lists the structured data it found, underneath a warning that the page is not available to Google.
The titles, descriptions and structured data describe a fictional organization. Its tax ID, 00-0000000, is not a real EIN.
